- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans (28 ounces each) crushed tomatoes
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 can (15 ounces) ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the ziti according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage; cook until browned.
- Add the garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil; simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 2 cups of mozzarella, Parmesan, eggs, salt, and pepper.
- In a large baking dish, layer half of the ziti, half of the meat sauce, and half of the ricotta mixture. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
