Italian Herbs and Cheese Bread

A delightful blend of Italian herbs and gooey cheese creates this perfect bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt.
  3. Add yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and fold in the cheeses.
  7. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before slicing.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle additional herbs on top before baking.
  • Serve warm with butter or olive oil.
