  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate (for ganache)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  7. For the custard filling, heat milk in a saucepan and whisk in cornstarch and sugar until thickened.
  8. Let the cake cool, then slice it in half horizontally.
  9. Spread custard filling on the bottom layer, then place the top layer over it.
  10. Make the ganache by melting chocolate with heavy cream and pour over the cake.
